Summary

The nuclear air-to-air missile you asked for is here – this is a 1:12 scale model of the US Air-2 Genie 1.5 kiloton nuclear rocket.  It was designed to be used during the cold war to shoot down large bomber fleets all at once.  In an era before there were accurate air-to-air missiles, the only way the US could imagine taking down Russian nuclear bombers before they reached the US was to use a nuclear unguided rocket that you would have to shoot into a formation of Russian bombers.  It only had a range of about 6 miles, so it sounds like it would have been pretty scary to use (since nobody fires at max range, so that's pretty close to a nuclear blast).

Assembly is a snap, literally, just snap a couple pieces together – no glue is required.

Bambu filaments used were:

  • Basic Light Gray
  • Basic Blue Gray
  • Polymaker Metallic Silver (for the nose, replace with any silver you have)
  • Metal Copper (the real rocket is a rust-colored brownish red, so use any color you have in that range)
  • Metal Iron Gray Black (for the stand)

If you enjoy my work and would like to help support my ability to share more (and even better) models in the future, please consider boosting or buying me a coffee at the link below.   Your support is what helps me have enough filament and supplies to do all the print testing required for my models to be high quality and easy to assemble.  It takes a mountain of test prints for each model. Thanks :-)

Here's a link to my Buy Me a Coffee page, thanks for the support!
