These adapters were designed for testing the charge air system of a 1.8T BAM engine.

They are designed to test all common turbocharged engines for leaks in the charge air system.

The diameters of the two adapters are graded at Ø70mm, Ø80mm, and Ø90mm respectively.

The valve connection Ø is designed for a ¼" NPT threaded car valve. Available for example at Amazon.

It is easy to screw into the adapter and use with a tire inflator.

Alternatively, I have also designed a version for a stainless steel car valve with a through hole.

The pressure test itself must be carried out with a reduced pneumatic pressure of max 0.5 bar (if necessary, use a pressure reducer).

One adapter is mounted on the turbocharger intake manifold before the mass air flow sensor, the other on the side before the throttle valve. It does not matter from which side the pressure is applied, the adapters can be installed depending on better accessibility to the valve. After applying the pressure, the system can be checked for leaks. These are usually located under the intake manifold on the small hoses of the intake system.

These instructions are not intended for laypeople, but for hobby mechanics who know what they are doing.

There are plenty of instructions available online. If you are unsure what to do, have your charge air circuit checked by a workshop.

The STEP model is available for download.
