Full-length Refillable Carbon Filter for H2D
Print Profile(1)

Description
UPDATE: V2 is out now, HERE. I will still leave V1 available to download for those that don't care about HEPA and want as much carbon as possible. However I would strongly recommend going with V2 as I did a lot of printing with ASA-CF with V1 and the carbon started to get clogged quickly leading to smell escaping, this happened after only 1.5 rolls of ASA-CF. Apparently the fine dust and particles clogs carbon very easily.
Tired of that stock BambuLab H2D carbon filter barely doing anything for the smell? Same here.
I print a lot of ASA & ASA-CF, and I don't know if you've ever used BambuLab ASA-CF, but it smells like road tar. The original filter for the H2D really didn't do much for the smell, even with a brand new filter in it. That’s why I designed this refillable upgrade that holds nearly a full pound of pellet or 13 oz of 4x8 mesh acid-free activated carbon – compared to the stock one’s ~2oz, big difference. I now have both of my H2D's printing ASA-CF and the only time I smell anything is during filament changes when it poops out hot, stinky ASA.
This filter is built to seriously improve odor control and includes an upper filter section so it even works while the printer is in “air conditioning” mode. It’s was designed specifically with carbon pellets in mind, but it will also work with 4x8 mesh activated carbon too. I recently tested it with the 4x8 mesh carbon and it works just fine you may loose a few smaller pieces when filling but it leads to a more densely packed carbon. It will hold exactly 13oz of 4x8 mesh GAC. Just make sure to use acid-free carbon. It slots in cleanly and replaces the original filter – just fill it up and you're set for much longer, fresher prints. Simple, effective, and way more capable. It can be used without a foam strip around the edge, but works better with one and fits more snug. This is the weather stripping I used, but anything with about 1" (25.4mm) width and 1/8" (3.175mm) thickness should work.
I would recommend printing this in something other than PLA if you ever plan to use the heated chamber as the heater is right under it. I printed the initial test print in PETG and used it when I was printing the final version in ASA-CF
Whether you're printing ABS, ASA, or just hate that burnt PLA smell, this mod handles it way better than stock.
The standard lid for the filter is solid, there is also an option for one with no top and bottom shells for a “vented” lid. The only difference this will make is it will cause a little more air to “bypass” more of the carbon when you're in “air conditioning” mode and not dealing with smelly filaments. The solid lid always makes sure the vent air for “air conditioned” filaments always passes through some carbon. The vented lid can cause more air to come in through the lid and bypass the carbon. It's not required to have the vented lid, it it is just there for those that want it. There is also a funnel to make filling easier, that can be printed in PLA or whatever filament you would like as it won't get warm.
The carbon I am using is from Activated Carbon Depot. Both the granular and the pellet carbon works fine in the filter. They also have their carbon for sale on Amazon as well if you'd rather order there, though they don't have pellets only granular on Amazon.

I've been in the hobby a long time and I've designed simple models, but I am just learning to do more complex designs. I would love a boost if you enjoy my model, it helps me keep motivated to try new designs and keep learning.
