Tire Tread Depth Gauge [3D Printable Tool]

This is a simple and functional 3D printable tool designed to measure the tread depth of car tires. It's ideal for quickly checking if your tire tread meets the legal and safe depth requirements.

This gauge is perfect for car owners, mechanics, or anyone who wants a quick and reliable way to check tire tread wear.

Key Features:

  • Measurement Range: 0–20 mm
  • Minimum Tread Warning: Clearly marked with a "min.: 1.6 mm" reminder, indicating the minimum legal tread depth in many countries.
  • Millimeter Scale: Engraved scale allows for precise tread depth readings.
  • Sliding Indicator: Designed to move smoothly in the groove to show the current depth.
  • Compact Design: Small enough to fit on a keychain – includes a hole for easy carrying.

Note:
After printing, you may need to apply a bit of force to initially loosen and move the slider. This is normal due to tight tolerances in the print and ensures the slider stays in place during use.

 

Print Recommendations:

  • Material: PLA, PETG, or ABS
  • Layer Height: 0.2 mm
  • Infill: 20% is sufficient
  • Elephant foot compensation: 0.12-0.15mm
  • No supports required
