Ecobee4 Draft Blocker Faceplate
Print Profile(1)

Description
This is for the Ecobee4 smart thermostat, and I am unsure of how well it would work with any other model.
The reason I designed and made this is that I've always had an issue with the location of the thermostat, and having issues due to the air draft around the unit. I cannot relocate my thermostat due to the short cable run to my main AC unit. That meant that the thermostat would live right next to the return vent for the AC unit, and this would lead to drafts that would make the thermostat read incorrectly in both temperature and humidity.
As a solution, I came up with this design that aims to stop any drafts. Since installing it, I have noticed that the temperature is indeed more accurate, as well as the humidity readings.
The only real downside to this model is its size, as it does look more bulky than the normal faceplate. I could not make it smaller, however, because if it is too small, it would block the sensors on the thermostat, not allowing it to read properly. This is a compromise for sensor accuracy over pure aesthetics.
The model requires just under 100g of filament, and takes around 2 hours of print time. I printed it at an accuracy of 0.2mm, but I would recommend maybe doing 0.16mm or smaller if you do not want any artifacts, and a very smooth finish. However, keep in mind if you want more accuracy, it may take longer to print and require more filament.
Please let me know of any feedback, or how I can improve the model further.
