Tin Whistle—One Piece, 2 Colors

Bill of Materials
Description
This is a concert-pitch tin whistle (key of D) redesigned specifically for the Bambu H2D.
• One-piece print: the body and mouthpiece are integrated, so no post-assembly or seals are needed.
• Two-colour vertical blend: the model is tall enough to create a clean gradient from base to tip using only two standard filaments. No specialty gradient rolls required.
• H2D-only build volume: overall height is ≈ 290 mm; it fits the H2D but exceeds most AMS-compatible printers.
Color Selection
The gradient effect is achieved by slicing the model into thin horizontal layers that gradually transition from one color to the other, producing a smooth fade when viewed from a distance. Translucent PLA filaments, like Bambu Lab’s Translucent series, enhance the gradient by letting light pass through and blend the layers visually. Opaque filaments can also be used, but will result in a more banded appearance. I’ve found that a combination of a darker Bambu Lab Translucent PLA for one of the colors with a Basic PLA White for the other color works well. Another combination that blends well are any two of the lighter Bambu Lab Translucent PLA filaments.
Post-Printing Cleanup
The labium is the small sharp edge inside the mouthpiece that splits the air and creates the sound. There will be a piece of tiny support material attached to it after printing.

- The whistle will not work until you remove this support material.
- Carefully push the support material INTO the whistle.
- Make sure you don’t push on the labium, just on the support material.
- Do not pull or scrape it aggressively, as this could damage the delicate lip.
- Check that the labium is clean and sharp, with no extra plastic blocking the airflow.
⚠️ Warning: The labium is very fragile—be gentle when cleaning it! A damaged labium can make the whistle sound weak or airy.
⚠️ Note: Yes, that giant purge tower is unfortunately necessary..
