Description

Diving Reel – Saltwater-Resistant and Optimized for 3D Printing

This diving reel combines durability with practical features for real-world diving use.
V2 has a more material in the middle and really very strong ;-)

The spool includes an integrated clamping mechanism to securely hold the line. T

he thread has been specifically optimized for FDM printing and is fully continuous, ensuring high tensile strength and reliable load handling. This significantly improves resistance to axial breakage, which is critical since overall shaft strength depends heavily on layer adhesion.

The design can easily withstand pulling forces of 7–8 kg, reducing the risk of failure in demanding conditions such as when deploying a surface marker buoy.

The reel requires no supports for printing. For dives below 30 meters, high infill is recommended to handle the increased pressure.

I would use PETG due to its excellent resistance to saltwater corrosion, making this reel suitable for extended marine use.
