Description

Beautiful Summer Cooler.  Unique print-in-place case design that allows for a significant increase in internal volume.  These can print on the A1 mini bed size.  no hardware needed.  These look great in solid white PETg or multiple colors.

Features:

  • 2 Versions:
    1. Hollow wall design for good thermal isolation.  Stays cold longer. Has striped outer walls.
    2. Solid wall design for faster prints and less filament.  Has smooth outer walls.
  • Vertical PIP lid design for larger internal volume.  Fits four 12 oz tall Heinekens with ice.
  • Convenient handle.
  • Snap latch to secure the lid shut.
  • Handle and latch are replaceable.  Separate print profile for the replacement parts.
  • Optional foot pad with strong printed screws.  Helps to keep the bottom surface thermally isolated.
  • Internal Dimensions: 5.8 x 4.97 x 6.25 inches.  [147.3 x 126.2 x 158.7 mm]
  • Can be printed on the A1 mini.

These are big prints, so bed adhesion is super important.  You just have to be sure your plate is clean and DRY.  If your plate is older than 6 uses, I would use Bambu liquid glue, or whatever you do to get the best adhesion possible.

Print Settings & Filament:

  • The print profiles are all set for only 2 walls to save on filament.  More walls will make it stronger.
  • 0.2mm layer, 12% infill
  • Filaments: PETg reg & HF.  ABS GF (Most of my prototypes were printed with a combination of Bambu Petg HF and old petg regular.)

After Printing and the Cooler has cooled:

  • If you Printed the latch separately, just snap it in place.  Try to press all 3 snap ribs in at once.

  • Latches may be tight to close for the first few times.  You can close them in and out several times to loosen them up.

  • Each of the boxes has a small bit of material connecting the handle to the base, and the lid to the base.  This helps to stabilize the parts during printing to make sure the hinges print good.  These breaks lose when you flip the lid and handle for the first time.  Use a scraper, blade, or fingernail to remove them.

  • (A1 mini single plate profiles only.)  The clasp is inverted to fit on the plate.  It has some designed in support that comes off very easy.

Below are some large cases I designed before this cooler.  The cooler has a similar hinge, latch, and PIP design as the cases.  So many aspects of this design have been printed hundreds of times, with a very high rating.  Here is a link.

Final thoughts:

It took a long time to figure out how to make the handle replaceable.  I held off releasing this till I had a solution.  Reason was, this is a huge print, and I don't want anyone to waste their time or filament.

For all my prototypes, I printed the A1 mini version, with the inverted clasp.  I figured this was the one that would have the best chance of exposing any print issues.  I printed five out of Bambu PETg, one out of Overture PETg, and two out of Bambu ABS.
