Dell R720 R820 Hard Drive Expansion Cage Enclosure Component - For Self-Assembled NAS (2.5-inch X8 Bays)
Print Profile(1)

Description
This enclosure is designed for the Dell R720 R820 server hard drive expansion cage and can be used to assemble a mini NAS.
The initial plan is to use a Raspberry Pi 5 as the motherboard, with a Raspberry Pi PCIe-to-SATA expansion card to connect 2.5-inch solid-state or mechanical hard drives.
Since I only have an A1 mini machine, I chose this hard drive cage and designed a hard drive cage enclosure suitable for mini print sizes.
Due to logistics issues, the expansion card and the hard drive cage backplane have not yet arrived, so the usability test has not yet been completed.
This enclosure has undergone three iterations. In terms of size and expandability, I have added a slot on the side for future expansion of other enclosures (such as a Raspberry Pi enclosure, power supply enclosure, etc.).
The side device bay is still under development. After receiving the backplane and expansion card and testing the feasibility of this device, I will release the complete enclosure kit upon success.
For now, I am releasing the hard drive cage enclosure and the backplane. The fan on the backplane is 40cm. Since my fan hasn't arrived yet, the installation test hasn't been completed either.
Printing uses a 0.08 layer height, and the support structure is relatively fine. It is recommended to wait for the model to cool down before removing the supports using needle-nose pliers.
