Description

This is the Light Lotus Lamp - 200g remix by moWerk from Printables. Created a print profile for it in Makerworld because none of the models here could accommodate being printed on the A1 Mini.

As per details from Printables:

  • 105% scale version of Cheesus original.
  • Scaled to 60% of the 175% Kim Andersen version using the remix files by Mou
  • thinner petals at 0.4mm for more light
  • total filament is about 200g

Since the lamp arms aren't really visible, I stacked them in groups of 3, 3 and 4 on one plate to save time printing all 10 arms at once.

However I didn't like the effect of stacked petals, the overhang caused an organic look that I didn't like so the petal plates are single object prints and separated across 2 plates.

Plate names indicate how many times it needs to be printed. Petal plates need to be printed 14 times so you get the

  • 40 small petals
  • 20 large petals

required in the build.

Total print time is around 8hrs and 16 plates factoring the multi-prints for plate 2 and 3:

  • 1x plate 1 for 10 arms
  • 10x plate 2 for mixed size petals (20 large and 20 small)
  • 4x plate 3 for small size petals (20 small)
  • 1x plate 4 crown and lower ring

Beware: there are obvious quality issues with stacking objects for printing. Had overhang issues with walls on the arms despite turning on cooling to 0% overhang and fan at 100%. If anyone knows how to figure out solving the position of the outer wall on the overhang, please share! Line widths and height is modified on the arms so the printer doesn't need to make an inner wall pass on the petal slots. I've included a lot of pictures on how I take apart stacked objects, but if you're not comfortable, please do not attempt. Print the not stacked option where all arms are flat on the bed. The A1 mini can only accommodate 3 arms per print.

Plate 5 is the not stacked option which adds about 30 min to overall time.

Assembly tips: make sure the petal slots are facing down when inserting arms into the crown. The original design calls for small petals in rows 1-4 and 9-12, the remaining rows in the middle using large petals. I found the bottom row of small petals didn't really add much to the overall design so could have opted not to print the last 5 small petals.

I'm new to 3d printing! Always accepting feedback on how to improve.
