Add a pop of whimsy to your outfit with a jewel beetle brooch!🪲
Hey people! :)
I have a love-hate relationship with insects. I don't really like them near me, but I like the IDEA of them - hear me out, some of them are super delicate, pretty, and whimsical! Take these jewel beetles for example, their natural colors is mind-blowing. Like, look at them! These are real beetles!
But of course, I wouldn't want any of them near me really - so I've made a 3D printed version. :D These beetles are the perfect whimsical brooch for coats or bags, and they don't damage the fabric cause they attach through magnets.
To print perfectly:
- I've separated the top “heart” to allow you to use dual colors for this design without AMS.
- Print with 0.16 mm layer height and a low infill percentage (5% or less). This design doesn't need support material.
- Turning on the brim option is necessary to ensure the delicate bottom parts won't separate from the build plate.
- Use silky or metallic filaments for the best shiny brooch!
After Print:
- Use 2 pairs of 6 mm round magnets for the beetle and the rectangular back piece. Secure them in place with a bit of glue.
- Apply glue to the designated heart cavity on the beetle and push the heart into place.
