2 Stage 20:1 Planetary gearbox
Print Profile(2)

Description
This 2 stage 20:1 gearbox was originally a project for school that a group and I designed to practice calculating gear ratios, gear teeth geometries, and stresses on materials. It was originally designed as a reduction gearbox, but can also work in the opposite direction. This gearbox is a great educational tool for anyone who is interested in learning more about planetary gear systems and how they work.
All required hardware with their quantities is located in the parts list below with links to buy them online and can be referenced in the photos. There are also cutaway versions of the housing and the inner gear rings to see inside as it operates. The cutaway does not effect the functionality of the gears. The cutaway parts are optional to print if you do not want to see the gears turn inside. If you do want to see the gears turn, then print the components that are not labeled as “cutaway”.
Parts list:
2x R8-2RS bearings(1/2in bore)
2x 5x11x4mm Rubber Shielded Ball Bearings MR115-2RS
Enjoy!
