Description
10x3mm Magnet Needed
(or 10x2 if you want)
Double-sided VOR whiteboard magnet!
One side is just a VOR, the other side is a VOR with the DME box around it.
How many times have you or an instructor drawn a VOR?
These magnets are also great for keeping 2 sectional charts together during paper flight planning!
These magnets are also great for hanging things on the fridge!
Imagine how happy Little Timmy will be when he sees his flight plan pinned to the FBO fridge!
If you don't know what these are:
To be honest: You probably wont care!
VOR is a VHF Omnidirectional Range
(VHF being Very High Frequency radio)
DME is Distance Measuring Equipment
They can be used to help pilots get ready to land when they are in the clouds and can't see the runway yet!
These ground stations blasting radio waves give pilots guidance and direction. If they are DME capable, it gives them range to the station as well!
The ground station blasts a certain frequency for each radial on a compass, 0-359 degrees. Pilots can then tune into the station, and tune an instrument into the desired radial. They can use this to keep them on a radial, or help them find a specific radial.
I'm not a Certified Flight Instructor, so take that description with a grain of salt.
