Description

This is an improved version of the plastic frame found in the late p80 manual shifter boots. The original part is only sold as part of the full assembly under P/N 9445843 and costs $140-250 new. Unlike the OEM part, my version has no voids around the outside edge, so it should be far less prone to cracking and falling apart in the long-run. The original part is also injection-molded in ABS, so you should print this in ABS/PETG or material of similar strength/longevity.

In order to use this part, you will need to carefully peel the leather covering away from the old plastic frame. It should be melted into the plastic at a few different points around the outside edge. Once you have the leather separated, simply transfer the rubber interior boot to the new frame, slip the two rectangular holes of the leather covering over the matching locking tabs, and tuck the remaining leather under the lip of the frame. You can use some superglue if you'd like, however the frame should be able to hold the leather in place just fine when installed into the center console.

The frame should snap firmly into place when you install it. To remove it, pull out the tray in front of the shifter and reach under there to push the front tabs in. If you are having issues with fitment, reach out to me on discord (@berg_) and I'll be happy to make some adjustments.
