Description

Summary

This stand provides a sweep, or curved, seamless background for photographing small to medium sized objects. It will hold thicknesses from 20 lb. copier paper to lightweight cardboard or craft paper. Colored or patterned papers add contrast or interest. Mounted on heavy cardboard or any rigid sheet, your setup can be moved to adjust for light and camera angles.

NOTE: There is a revised version of this object available at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3638751 (easier to load, holds backgrounds more securely, and is more stable standing alone or attached to a base.)

Instructions

The file "Paper-Sweep-complete.stl" contains all the parts needed, laid out on a 175mm x 175mm bed, For printers with smaller beds, download the separate parts, printing the pin twice. Thanks to 247generator an .stl is now added for printing all parts at once on a 240mm circular print bed.

The platens attach to the stands as shown using the the pins which go through the holes in the stands and are forced or glued into the receiving holes of the platens. Although most people find this works, there have been a few who've had the pins print out too small; if so, use 3/16" or M5 bolts & nuts.
To use, open the platen and feed the paper between the pivot and the stand. Holding the paper against the stand, close the platen and secure it under the hook on the stand.
The flat plates behind the curves are for weights which are needed for heavier paper. If you plan to use only one size of paper, clamping or gluing the stands to a stiff cardboard or foam-core board will make the setup easier and even more stable.

BY THE WAY…
I’m glad to freely share my designs, though if you print it and are pleased with the result I would be tickled pink if you returned here and left a small tip!

This model was great! Is there any possibility to make the bolts into screws?

Either this models or my tolerances are off. A single A4 paper sheet is not really gripping. The pin also didnt work and i had to download another model for that (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4674538)
