Description

Kanto Region Badges designed to be used as magnets or held in a case.

This project will require super glue & magnets:
- I used gorilla glue & 10x3mm neodymium magnets.

The case can be printed as one print. It is important to use supports and let the plate cool down completely before detaching from the build plate. This will allow the supports to detach quite easily from the case.
My suggestion for supports in slicer:
- normal(auto)
- default style
- Rectilinear base pattern
- Top Z Distance 0.25mm

The badges will need supports as well for where the magnets will insert. I originally used tree(auto) slim supports, but the above settings will work too.

With these slicer settings, the supports will remove easily.

WARNING:
If you print the case and it is not closing all the way, I suggest sitting a book on top of it for about an hour and it should close then. This is what I had to do.

The only thing I’m not satisfied with is that I can’t get the case to close all the way. Even with strong magnets. I have trimmed down parts of the hinge and that hasn’t helped

Hey Andrew, I am currently working on a new design to fix this. Hoping to finish it in the next week or so depending on my schedule. I will update you when it's finished

Everything about this is so great, if only the case would close all the way!

I was able to get it to close flush by adding a negative rectangle about .85mm thick to the top of the inside of the base so the lid had more clearance to close fully. just FYI!

Hi! I saw your comment about fixing the lid closure by adding a negative rectangle inside the base. I’m trying to do the same but I’m having trouble understanding exactly where to place it.Would you mind sharing your modified file or a screenshot of how you set it up? That would help me a lot. Thanks in advance!

Here's a screenshot of what it looks like with the negative part added to cut enough space from the base for the lid to fully close. I'll message you with the file for it!

Great print profile, this way I was still able to print this model last minute for my kid. (Unfortunately I didn’t have the correct size magnets at hand, but I fixed that with smaller magnets and some vinyl to keep the magnets put. Will be ordering the right magnets soon!)
