Description

Universal Filament Cleaner (UFC) – Filament Cleaner Using Cigarette Filters

Looking for a simple, affordable, and effective way to keep your filament clean and avoid clogs or issues with your 3D printer?
My UFC – Universal Filament Cleaner is the  first smart, reusable solution you were looking for!

🌀 What is it?
A small container that can be printed in just a few minutes, designed to hold standard cigarette filters (both pre-made and roll-your-own), which act as the filtering material.

🔧 How does it work?
Insert 1 filter inside the UFC and thread the filament through the holes. It can be mounted directly between an external spool and the printer, or between a roll and  the AMS.
The filter catches dust, dirt, and micro-residue that may settle on the filament—especially in workspaces, dusty environments, or setups with low maintenance.
This helps you keep your nozzle clean and protect your machine. Simple and effective, tested for 40+ hours.

💡 Why use the UFC?

🔁 Reusable forever
🌱 Eco-friendly: uses cheap and easily available filters
🎨 Weighs less than 1g: also great as a color sample to match each spool
⚙️ No supports needed, prints quickly and easily
🧼 Inspired by industrial solutions: a small idea with big impact

📦 This design was inspired by industrial cleaning systems used for high-end filament handling—systems that use the same exact filtering principle and materials, but are often much more expensive and less accessible to hobbyists.

🔗 Print it, test it, and if you like it... keep it mounted!

In dusty environments or with unsealed filament spools, the UFC can really make a difference.
Let me know how it works for you and feel free to share ideas for improvement!
