Description

This model is a parametric Petri dish generator designed for 3D printing enthusiasts, educators, scientists, and makers who need custom labware on demand. Unlike static STL files, this project allows you to generate Petri dishes of any size and specification through a fully adjustable interface. The one pictured is 54 mm in diameter, 12 mm tall, with a lid height of 8.4 mm and a precise 0.5 mm clearance between the lid and base for a snug fit.

The dish is designed with clean, minimal geometry that prints beautifully in transparent filament for a realistic lab aesthetic. You can tweak parameters like wall thickness, lid height, base diameter, or even offset the preview position—all in a matter of seconds. Whether you're growing cultures, displaying science models, or crafting clear storage for small parts, this Petri dish generator is a precise and versatile solution.

The model was created using a custom parametric design script which I wrote to offer full flexibility without needing to go back into CAD. This makes it perfect for anyone wanting to generate dozens of variations quickly or integrate it into larger 3D printed lab setups.

 

Print recommendation:
Use transparent PLA or PETG for maximum realism. No supports are needed.
