Every boost helps motivate me to keep restoring and importing more great works of art into MakerWorld. Thanks for supporting this ongoing project!
This model is based on a marble bust of Marcus Aurelius, Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher, who ruled from AD 161 to 180. This likely posthumous portrait captures his contemplative demeanor through carefully rendered curls, beard, and draped cloak. The original sculpture is housed at the Louvre Museum, and this 3D scan was provided by Scan the World under the BY-NC-SA license.
I imported the .stl into Bambu Studio, repaired mesh geometry, and to allow for larger scale printing on A1, P1, and X1 printers, I separated the base from the bust, which also reduces support requirements. After printing, the parts will need to be rejoined—using a smooth build plate can help minimize the visible seam.
Printed in Elegoo Marble PLA using the Generic High-Speed PLA profile. After printing, I filed and sanded areas beneath the nose, chin, and beard.
