Description

As I bought more and more filament, I had no place to store it at home, so I always wanted to find a suitable stackable filament spool storage rack. However, after searching, I couldn't find one that was particularly suitable. Therefore, I referenced some storage rack designs and designed this stackable filament spool rack myself
This stackable filament spool rack is mainly composed of 3 main parts: a base, stacking layers, and a top layer. You can flexibly print the stacking layer parts according to your desired stacking height to create racks of different heights and capacities
For the base, leveling supports are designed on the rear side to ensure the rack is parallel to the wall when placed against it (a personal obsession)
The base, stacking layers, and top layer all feature depressions matching the filament spool diameter. When spools are placed in, they are fixed, making the entire rack tidier and more aesthetically pleasing. Additionally, when removing a spool, other spools will not slide out. At the same time, the depressions account for a certain clearance, ensuring that spools can still be placed even when wrapped in two sealed bags, without getting stuck or damaging the bags
The storage space of the rack is designed according to Bambu Lab spools and can also accommodate Bambu Lab spool cardboard boxes, serving as both spool storage and cardboard box storage
Considering the compatibility issues with different 3D Printer precision, the base printing plate provides a set of hole test adapters with different apertures (-0.2, -0.1, 0, +0.1, +0.2). After printing the first plate's base and its adapters, insert the adapters onto the support posts on the base to see which size fits best. The ideal fit should allow easy insertion and smooth removal, not too tight, possibly slightly loose. If "0" is the best match, no parameter adjustments are needed for subsequent model printing. However, if another adapter fits better, you need to adjust "X-Y inner contour compensation" under "Quality", simply input the value of the suitable adapter into this parameter

Since the filament spool rack is not small, it can only be printed by P series and above 3D Printers. For standard size spool racks, by adjusting the layout, the H2 series can print two items on one plate, saving printing time

2026.01.13 Update Notes:
1. The original size model could not fit the new Bambu Lab spool cardboard boxes, so the size was increased to accommodate larger cardboard boxes
2. The enlarged size is now close to the limit of the P series build plate. The placement has been meticulously adjusted. If using a larger 3D Printer, you can adjust the placement and angle yourself
2026.04.06 Update Notes:
1. I saw enthusiasts combining and splicing this spool rack to achieve multi-row combinations with different height intervals. Therefore, based on the original model, I added some new parts (plate 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) and designed two new usage styles: combined use and spliced use
2. For the combined version, based on the original model, small connecting parts are used to achieve horizontal expansion and combination of the spool rack, as well as adjustment for different standard heights. You only need to print small parts from plate 4 and 5 (parts common to both combined and spliced versions, and parts dedicated to the combined version) in addition to the original plate 1, 2, and 3 (base, stacking layer, top layer)

3. For the spliced version, based on the original model, specially designed right-side splicing base, top layer, and small connecting parts are used to achieve rightward expansion and combination of the spool rack, as well as adjustment for different standard heights. You only need to print small parts from plate 4, 6, 7, and 8 (parts common to both combined and spliced versions, parts dedicated to the spliced version, spliced version base, and spliced version top layer) in addition to the original plate 1, 2, and 3 (base, stacking layer, top layer). It should be noted that the top layer of the spliced version has overhangs, which require support printing. It is recommended to use a dedicated support interface for printing to achieve the best printing results
4. The quantity of newly added combined and spliced version parts (plate 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) in the printing files is provided for two horizontal units. If multiple units are needed for combination, you can print the required quantity yourself. For assembly, looking at the images should provide clarity
5. There is no difference in usage between the combined and spliced versions. The combined version offers more flexibility; if you have already printed multiple sets of spool racks, you can directly combine them, and fewer new connecting small parts are needed. The spliced version is more streamlined; for horizontal expansion, only the newly added dedicated base and top layer need to be printed. You can choose according to your preferences
