Boost Me (for free)

Every boost helps motivate me to keep restoring and importing more great works of art into MakerWorld. Thanks for supporting this ongoing project!

This model is based on a 3D scan of the Winged Victory of Samothrace (also known as Nike of Samothrace), a Hellenistic sculpture dating to the 2nd century BCE. The original marble figure, discovered on the island of Samothrace, depicts the Greek goddess Nike and is celebrated for its sense of movement, powerful form, and intricately sculpted drapery. Despite missing its head and arms, the statue remains one of the most iconic pieces in the Louvre Museum. This scan was provided by Scan the World, a project that makes cultural artifacts freely available for 3D printing and education.

I imported the .stl file into Bambu Studio,  re-oriented the model and configured custom support placement—particularly under the wings, folds of fabric, and base edges. I also maximized the scale for A1 printers, keeping proportions intact while pushing the vertical limits of standard beds. Print settings were tuned for fine detail on the wing texture and drapery.

Printed in Elegoo Marble PLA using the Generic High-Speed PLA profile. After printing, I used a file and fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out support scars and enhance the finish around delicate contours, particularly the wing tips and folds.

Note: Tall prints can lose adhesion in the final moments. Please wash your build plate prior to printing. Or consider scaling down 10%. I've also had really good luck using BIQU Cryogrip Pro Frostbite build plates.
