Smart Wallet v2.0: The Collection That Fits

Say goodbye to bulky wallets! My goal was to create the perfect minimalist alternative to similar slim wallets, delivering exactly what I had been searching for. Developed as a personal passion project, this collection was born without a corporation behind it. I hope that it offers you what you've been looking for as well.

Every variant of the Smart Wallet v2.0 is available in six different card capacities—from a minimalist 3-card version to a maximum 10-card capacity—ensuring you find the perfect size for your everyday carry.

Available Variants

  • Smart Wallet: The classic, sleek design for cards only. Simple, efficient, and modern.
  • Smart Wallet + MagSafe: Features a dedicated recess on the back where a compatible MagSafe magnet can be inserted flush. This allows for secure attachment to MagSafe-compatible devices, so the wallet can be used seamlessly with your iPhone or other accessories.
  • Smart Wallet + Cash: Designed with a discreet front-facing compartment specifically for folded banknotes. This keeps your cash organized and easily accessible without adding bulk.
  • Smart Wallet + AirTag*: The compartment normally used for cash was specially redesigned to fit an Apple AirTag and can be securely closed with a protective cap. This allows for discreet tracking without compromising the sleek design.
  • Smart Wallet + Cash & MagSafe: Combines the convenience of the integrated cash compartment with the magnetic functionality of MagSafe for ultimate versatility.
  • Smart Wallet + AirTag & MagSafe: The ultimate option, offering both the flush MagSafe magnet on the back and the discreet AirTag insert with a cap on the front for maximum security and functionality.

Key Features & Design

I used valuable feedback to make the Smart Wallet even better. Every variant is a testament to my core principles: great design, reliable functionality, and intuitive use.

  • Optimized Card Fit: I refined the tolerances to hopfully make inserting and removing cards even smoother, while still maintaining a perfectly secure hold.
  • Customizable Capacity: With six different sizes (3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10 cards), you can choose a wallet that perfectly matches your needs.
  • Secure & Smart Functions:
    • MagSafe Integration: The MagSafe variants offer a perfectly integrated recess for a flush-fitting magnet that ensures a strong connection to compatible devices.
    • AirTag Integration: In the AirTag variants, the AirTag compartment replaces the cash compartment. The AirTag sits precisely and is discreetly protected by an easy-to-use cap that also simplifies battery replacement.
    • Discreet Cash Compartment: The cash variants offer a dedicated, easily accessible compartment on the front for folded banknotes.
  • Modern, Sleek Design: The clean lines and geometric shape make this wallet a stylish and practical accessory that fits perfectly in any pocket.
  • Intuitive Use: The well-thought-out design allows for quick and easy access to everything you need.

MagSafe Magnets & Assembly

The following magnets were used for the model and work well:

  • Link to Temu
  • Important Note on Adhesion: For a secure, permanent hold, it is recommended to use a small amount of super glue under the magnets, as their own adhesive strength is often not strong enough.

*Important Note on the AirTag Variant

I tested the fit of this variant with a 3D-printed model. I am looking for active testers and welcome your feedback and experiences with a real AirTag to make the design perfect! Your help is crucial!

Gorgeous design, truly. Printed beautifully on my H2C with black Bambu ABS-GF. Super sleek look -- I honestly can't believe it's 3D printed. This is the 8-card AirTag option. AirTag fits really clean and snug in there, and I was easily able to fit my eight cards. Thank you for this design! One comment: I don't quite get the point of that round cap it printed with. I was hoping to be able to hide the AirTag but that cap wouldn't fit OVER the AirTag, would it? Not sure if I'm missing something here.

Thank you so much for the rating and your comment. The print turned out really fantastic! The cap is a support integrated into the print profile to assist the cutout .Without support, the hole would become slightly oval. The "cap" ensures the hole is printed perfectly round.

Right, makes sense. Now my only problem with your model is my entire extended family plus friends all want one, all in ABS-GF to get that same sleek look.

Looks great. Thanks for the review and for sharing 👍 What kind of filament did you use? That looks really good. Does MagSafe work safely with a metal ring? I thought you needed a magnetic ring.

I used OD Green PLA+. So far its holding up well. Magsafe is working great. Just searched magsafe ring on amazon and bought a 4 pack. Put the other on a pair of thin optics readers I have. Can carry glasses or a wallet on the back of my phone now. These are the rings I used. https://tinyurl.com/2f2y72s4

v2.0 - Cards + Cash (3-10 Cards)
I put a very light fuzzy skin on the outside, which leads to a noble look. Unfortunately, it's almost invisible in the photo. 🫣😅 Little addendum, the cards didn't hold well for me. So I increased the flow a bit and applied a clear fuzzy skin to the top edge. Now they go in nice and tight, let's see if it stays that way

Thank you for the rating and feedback 👍 I would gladly adjust the design if it is due to the design Therefore, the following questions: What filament was used and was it dry? Was the print profile changed? (Layer height, walls, speed etc) Which variant or card capacity was used?

I used a Silk Gold PLA filament, which I only unpacked last week; the filament was dry. I used your print profile for 3-10 cards + cash without any changes

@user_1529787004 Perhaps it is precisely because nothing has been changed... The print profile should definitely be adapted to the specifications for the filament used. I don't have any Silk PLA here at the moment, but I will order some to test it. To clarify again: The credit cards etc. are not held in place by the tapering in the Smart Wallet, but simply slide out without resistance?

Could you make a version that also has a spot to stick in or on a magsafe magnet?

Yes. I'd be happy to create a version for gluing in MagSafe magnets. Thank you very much for your input. Have you perhaps tried the version for Apple Airtags? Unfortunately, I only have a 3D-printed model of the Airtag and not a real one. That's why I would be happy to receive feedback on the Airtag version If you wish, I would also be happy to create other versions (number of cards, etc.) (as long as it doesn't exceed my CAD skills 👍

I will share my progress with you here in the comments and, if necessary, get feedback on how the implementation would be best for you. Currently, I imagine that I will adjust the slide-out mechanism for the cards so that the MagSafe magnets can be placed there and the cutout will be within the magnets.

I'm printing it out now to see how I like it. I'll let you know. I have one right now with mag safe that I'm using so I may not switch over until you get the mags safe version available. Thanks for being responsive! I wouldn't mind if the magnet spot for magsafe wasn't even inside the print but instead just had a spot to glue it on the outside like this.

Getting cards in and out is very difficult. Especially if there is only one card left. It might be a good idea to use a closing mechanism like the cyber slim wallet this is inspired by. The slits also dont print clean. NOTE: I did use a different filament. PLA+ by Sunlu which may be a cause for the issues.

Thank you for your feedback What print settings and filament did you use to print the wallet

The standard profile that you provided. My filament is dry so im not sure what the issue was. I used PLA+ by Sunlu.

OK. Then I'm afraid I don't know how to improve the print profile... I've only used Bambu Lab filament. Unfortunately, I don't have any Sunlu filament here at the moment. It may be necessary to adjust the printing settings such as printing temperature and printing speed to the Sunlu filament. Pushing the cards out is actually a bit harder the first 10-20 times. Because of this, I pushed and pulled all the cards in at once several times.

Thank you very much for your feedback! The Smart Wallet might not be the wallet that fits everyone 😉 The cash compartment is intentionally designed for a small amount of cash. Realistically, it holds around 4–6 banknotes, which equals roughly €800–1,200 or unfortunately “only” $400–600. I may redesign this wallet parametrically in the future. In the meantime, feel free to check out the Shark Wallet — it is parametrically designed and can hold up to 10 banknotes: https://makerworld.com/de/models/1969444-shark-wallet-v2-for-parametric-model-maker#profileId-2117434 By the way, I noticed that you printed version 1.0. With the newer version, the cash capacity is not larger, but I still wanted to point that out.

v2.0 - Cards + Cash + MagSafe (3-10 Cards)
This is exactly what I was looking for, the cards fit is perfect; however, I found that every metal ring and magnet that I own is just too big, by a tiny amount, and I can't fit them in. The design and the self support are too complex for me to fix it, it would be nice to add some kind of tolerance to the ring housing.

Thanks for the feedback. I have linked the magnetic ring I used. otherwise I can adjust the design according to your needs and send you a print profile via PM Please simply send me the dimensions you want used in the wallet and I will adjust it.

thank you so much, you are very kind! I actually managed to fix this by removing the self supporting ring and adding a slightly bigger magsafe ring as a "negative part" directly in the slicer. In hindsight, this is an "issue" due to my rings, not your design, so it was not fair giving the design 4 stars. Sorry about that!
