Description

This model was designed for the Crown Contest.

You know those annoying lines your printer makes every single time you print any item whatsoever?  They're pretty annoying, right? you have to remove them constantly, you have to make sure you don't accidently eat them even though they look so delicious, sometimes your sisters get mad at you because you keep missing the trash can due to their inherently un-aerodynamic nature, alas they are destined to flutter sadly to be forgotten beneath the nearest piece of furniture.

But wait!  if I told you that it need not be this way, for this past month i have been hidden away in the dark recesses of my bedroom forging in secret a relic so great that none would dare oppose the 3D printing supremacy of any with the courage and strength to create one of their own.

Each purge line is a story of a time when you chose to reach into the swirling abyss of digital chaos and with the power of your 3D printer you brought forth something from nothing.  This is no small feat and you deserve to display this accomplishment.  This is not just a crown, it is a LEGACY, an eternal testament of every time you cried into the void that YES, you will have that flexy dragon!  That novelty cupholder!! You WILL print 300 tiny ducks!! WHY? BECAUSE YOU CAN!!

when your years grow long and your hair turns grey, you may loose your strength of arm, your sight will grow dim and memories will fade, you have but to rest your eyes upon the crown you forged over the long decades, line by line weaving a tapestry of the indominable human spirit and you will know that you have lived.

This crown is eternal and infinite, allowing you to grow it taller, so that your children's children, unto countless generation will forge their own rings and raise higher and higher the legacy that you have begun.

This model is designed to use the purge lines that your printer will generate throughout your printing journey.  usually these get thrown away but I thought every single print you ever do is represented by these lines it might be cool to track this somehow.  The design is quite simple but I'm very new to this so it took me forever.  There's 3 components but you only need to print the main crown body and the retainer ring.

There's about 200 channels all around the crown and you simply drop the lines into the holes, don't worry about accuracy it's designed that you can fit a couple in each hole, the L shaped side will not fit through the holes and the line will stay secure, just make sure all the lines are resting inside the channel and not sticking over the edge.  once you're done loading the crown you take the twist lock retaining ring and twist it firmly in place, you can now safely flip the crown.

If you have more lines then will fit into the base crown then you can start filling a stacker ring, that snaps into the top of the crown which acts as the retaining ring for the stacker.

The crown itself has a design inspired by the Bambu lab logo, and you can print bambulab crest inserts to add a splash of color to the base crown, these you simply push in and they should hold from friction.

The default crown has an inner diameter of 170mm which is a little small for me.  Everything should still function if you scale it up to fit your size, but i wouldn't scale it down by more then 5-10% as the purge lines may not go in the holes as nicely.

Step 1. Load crown.

step 2.  Add retainer ring.

Step 3. Add stacker rings.

Guys if you've read all of my ramblings,

thank you so much for your time, this is by fay the most technical and challenging design i have ever made and i learned so much.  I am a new maker so I'm sure those awesome pioneers out there who will make this for themselves will find plenty if things i can improve, all i ask is that you stay polite and respectful and ill be sure to be prompt with whatever questions and ideas you all have for this and future products, thank you!
