Description

The Microjig Matchfit system is endlessly useful for custom jigs, storage, organization, etc, but the bits and knobs are on the expensive side. I modeled and tested a number of variations to land on these, which are fully compatible with the Matchfit dovetail track cutting router bits.

 

Please note: I opted to use M5 bolts and threaded inserts here instead of the 10-32 thread size on the stock hardware; as a result, the the knobs and bits are not cross compatible.

 

I tested these with Bambu PLA-CF, so profile adjustment might be needed with other materials. I prefer the resolution when printed at .12 layer height, but they still work great at .2 standard.

 

The tolerance on the M5 Bolt part is intentionally tight to allow a friction hold with standard M5 hex bolts such as these; if you prefer a looser fit or your material is more prone to shrinking, just adjust the object-level X-Y hole compensation.

 

The rest of the parts have tolerances tailored to standard Ruthex-style M5 heat set inserts; the knobs are a bit more flexible in terms of insert length, but the bits are sized to accept M5x5.8mm inserts such as these.

FYI, for those wanting 10-32 thread sizes, the standard 10-32 threaded heat inserts on Amazon share the same 7.1mm OD as the M5 ones Caleb listed above. AKA, if you want the standard Matchfit 10-32 size, just buy the 10-32 heat inserts on Amazon and they will work great with this model.

These are very nice. I modeled and printed some bigger knobs and longer dovetail inserts following your design and tried to upload them as a remix. It didn't work because of license incompatibility, so I got curious. You posted this as a remix, referring to the commercial Matchfit website. Comments on Reddit indicate that Matchfit has applied for a patent on this system, which may or may not be granted. I opted to abandon my upload plan, rather than poke that bear.

Printed really well! Used matte PLA for first time and stuck to plate too well( will reduce bed temp next time) Using microjig system for a specific job and this was a godsend so I could print rather than wait 2 weeks on postage. Added an extra wall for strength which might have been unnecessary but on such a small print....
