Description

Boost Me (for free)

Every boost helps motivate me to keep restoring and importing more great works of art into MakerWorld. Thanks for supporting this ongoing project!

This model is based on a 3D scan of the Reiterstatue Marc Aurel, a full-scale replica of the equestrian statue of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. The replica stands in Tulln an der Donau, Austria, as a monument to the region’s Roman legacy and as a tribute to one of antiquity’s most influential Stoic philosophers.

I began with the original .obj file and imported it into Bambu Studio. I repaired the mesh geometry, simplified, scaled, and cropped the model for better printability, and modified the base to improve bed adhesion. The model was scaled to maximize fit on A1, X1, and P1 printers, and I manually optimized supports and infill to ensure structural integrity without wasting material.

Printed in Elegoo Marble PLA using the Generic High-Speed PLA profile. After printing, I used a file and fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out areas where supports were removed, preserving the intricate surface details while improving the finish.

Note: Tall prints can lose adhesion in the final moments. Please wash your build plate prior to printing. Or consider scaling down 10%. I've also had really good luck using BIQU Cryogrip Pro Frostbite build plates.
