Maxime Le Mal - Despicable Me

Maxime Le Mal is the main antagonist of Despicable Me 4.

Maxime, nicknamed as the "Insect Man" or "Cockroach Man" by himself, is a former student of the villain school, Lycée Pas Bon, who is a cockroach hybrid who sought revenge on Gru. He developed a hatred for Gru after the latter stole his song at the 9th grade talent show. Maxime sought revenge on Gru and his family after Gru successfully arrested Maxime, causing his internment in AVL prison.

I worked on this for a themed birthday party, this villain was the kid's favourite character and I couldn't find any 3d models for printing.

The base mesh was created using AI tools with a bunch of cleanup in blender to fix hands and face features, also splitting into multiple parts for easier (and multi-colored) printing.

Instructions

• Print all parts in the desired colors
  • I've left two options for the left hand (one with 3 colors and one with only 2 for faster printer since I was in a rush, print only one)
  • I've also printed the body laying down to minimize the number of color changes for faster printer and less waste, but that leave a few layer line artifacts on the front, which I didn't mind as it looked ok, but you could also change the orientation for better quality (at the expense of more print time and material waste, up to you);
• Attach all the parts in place, it should be a tight fit but it doesn't hurt to add some glue as well (especially on the legs as they are thin and need to hold the body together);
  • Test the leg orientation before glueing to make sure the model will stand properly, since the legs are thin it might be tricky if you glue them in the wrong orientation, the model might not stand properly;
  • Since this was a for a birthday party decoration, I ended up glueing the model to a small base to ensure it wouldn't fall, but this is optional;
