Description

A Sturdy Embroidery Thread Spool Holder with Increased Storage for Artbin boxes

This spool holder fits the popular Artbin storage boxes with a sturdier, increased capacity design for larger spools (38mm).  You get:

  • Increased storage (64 spools compared to 54 stock)
  • A sturdier design that lets you take out 16 spools at a time
  • A gridfinity base on each section, a great way to keep the holder from sliding around on your sewing table
  • A centered handle on each section that lets you remove the spools with one hand.
The stock holder only fits 54 spools

The stock spool holder that comes with Artbin storage boxes is designed for small spools.  If you want to store embroidery or other larger spools (38mm), you can't use all the pins.  I could only get 54 spools neatly on the stock holder, but that left a lot of wasted space.

This design uses four sections, each holding 16 spools neatly for a total of 64.  Each section has a centered handle that lets you remove just those spools, taking up less space out of the box.  Each section also fits a 4x4 gridfinity base so, if you'd like, you can use a gridfinity baseplate on your table to secure the spools.  There are many baseplate models available; I like this one, shown in the last picture below.

Print two of each plate to get the entire set of four.  I used PLA but this should work well with any filament.

Enjoy!
