Looking at it, my thoughts drifted back to my childhood. Back then, the family's traditional thermos had a double-layered glass inner bottle.
Air was sealed between the two layers, like putting a warm coat on the hot water, the air conducts heat slowly, keeping the warmth locked inside.
The inner bottle was also silver-plated, like a mirror, reflecting the heat back and preventing it from escaping. The bottle mouth was tightly sealed with a wooden stopper, which doesn't conduct much heat.
Every time I lifted the thermos, my heart would flutter, afraid that my hand would slip, and the inner bottle would shatter with a "clatter." I remember the family's bright red plastic thermos, it was so vibrant, sitting steadily in the corner every day. No matter when it was needed, it was always steaming hot when opened. In the winter, when my hands were stiff from doing homework, I would hug it, and a wave of warmth would spread from my hands to my heart. Now, time has passed, and that kind of thermos is no longer with us. When going out for a few days, my grandmother always used to pour out the water in the thermos, making it dry and airy, and she would put the stopper on sideways for ventilation.
Now, technology is advancing rapidly, smart kettles and electric kettles have replaced coal stoves, and insulated cups have replaced thermoses. Those sounds of "hiss —" while opening and "glug-glug" pouring water have become the echoes of the past.
Can you still remember the last time you used this kind of thermos?
