Description
This is Mechanism 144 — the Lazy Tongs. It’s a system of scissor linkages that multiplies motion: a small movement on one end creates a much larger motion on the other.
I used it to build a grabber. The handle looks like scissors, and the other end has a jaw. When you squeeze the handle, the whole thing extends and the jaw closes.
It’s a simple way to get reach and grip with one motion.
