Boost Me (for free)
Hey, if you like you can boost me! It's free!
This is my entry for the Magic Trick Contest on MakerWorld: a fully functional Greedy Cup (also called a Pythagorean Cup). Pour a little, and it behaves like a regular cup. But fill it too much... and it drains completely through a hidden siphon inside!
Inspired by ancient Greek engineering and the fun of illusion, this design is perfect for showing off science in action, surprising friends, or just having a clever conversation piece on your shelf. It’s meant for display or light demonstration, not everyday use.
Printing Tips:
- No supports needed if printed upright
- Recommend using translucent or clear filament for extra “wow” effect
- Took about 1.5 hours to print
- Layer height: 0.2mm | 3 perimeters | PLA or PETG both work
- Make sure your printer handles overhangs well near the siphon tube
Inspiration:
I’ve seen greedy cups online and always wanted to print one myself. This felt like a great opportunity to enter a MakerWorld contest and finally try it. It was fun, simple, and rewarding to watch it in action!
Note:
This model is meant for display and trick use only, not for actual drinking. Use with care and enjoy the reactions!
