Description

This is a 3D-printable chassis frame inspired by the legendary Tamiya Grasshopper.

It has been slightly extended to fit larger LiPo battery packs, making it ideal for modern RC upgrades while preserving a vintage look.

The design consists of two parts that can be securely bolted together for easy printing and assembly.

It is intended to be compatible with both the Grasshopper I and Grasshopper II body shells.

🛠️ Printing Recommendations:

  • Material: PETG (recommended for strength and flexibility)
  • Walls: 6 perimeters/walls
  • Infill: 80–100%, depending on your strength requirements
  • Layer height: 0.2 mm recommended
  • Use supports where needed (especially under screw holes or complex overhangs)

🔧 Assembly Notes:

Some of the original screws from the Grasshopper kit may not be long enough due to the extended frame design.

However, it’s easy to spot where a longer screw is needed during assembly — just keep a few spare M3 screws of various lengths on hand.

⚠️ Compatibility:

  • Tested with Grasshopper II shell
  • Grasshopper I fitment is unconfirmed — community feedback is highly appreciated
  • All mounting points are based on original dimensions, but minor adjustments may be needed depending on your hardware setup
