Melville whale (Leviathan) skull model
Print Profile(1)

Description
The Melville whale was the most powerful marine mammal of the Neogene Period. Measuring 18 meters long and weighing 65 tons, it was comparable in size to a modern female sperm whale; its teeth reached 35 centimeters in length, exceeding those of the Megalodon. Fossils have been found in Miocene strata dating back 13 to 12 million years. This model is a restoration based on fossil reconstruction; the actual skull would have been around three meters in size.
