Summary
Want a realistic grenade that's also a hidden storage box? This model looks like a WW2 Mk2 frag grenade, but if you twist, it reveals a hidden compartment. Pull the pin and the handle flies off just like a real grenade. You can even insert a heavy item into the grenade and have a realistic heavy feel to the grenade.
The model assembles in seconds, just follow the visual instructions down below. No glues is required, just snap on the top and twist to screw and unscrew the container.
There's 3 ways to enjoy this model:
- Metal Spring – if you have a metal spring, even a pen spring will usually work, then print the metal spring profile
- Plastic Spring – if you don't have a metal spring, but still want the handle to fly off, then print the plastic spring profile. Note that plastic PLA springs can wear out fairly quickly, so to make it last longer, I suggest you don't leave it under tension when not using it.
- No Flying Handle - if you don't want the handle to fly off and just want a realistic grenade storage box, simply print the metal spring profile and don't put a spring in it.
Bambu Filaments used were:
- Matte Dark Green
- Matte Yellow
- Metal Copper
- Silk+ Silver
Assembly is super simple, here's the instructions for the metal spring and then below that for the plastic spring.
Metal Spring Version Assembly:

The above image is from the flashbang, but the installation is the same, hold the grenade upside down and insert the peg, that way the spring doesn't fall out.
Plastic spring version assembly:

If you enjoy my work and would like to help support my ability to share more (and even better) models in the future, please consider boosting or buying me a coffee at the link below. Your support is what helps me have enough filament and supplies to do all the print testing required for my models to be high quality and easy to assemble. It takes a mountain of test prints for each model. Thanks :-)
