Description

his project includes a set of custom transom mounting plates designed to secure a universal metal transom bracket to the Ascend 133X kayak. The factory mounting pattern of the kayak does not match many off-the-shelf metal transoms, so this 3D-printed solution allows proper alignment while maintaining strength and ease of installation.

The transom plate set includes:

  • A 20mm thick main mounting plate with bolt spacing matched to the Ascend 133X threaded inserts
  • Additional printed spacers or shims for offsetting, leveling, or reinforcing the motor bracket
  • Bolt holes sized for M6 or 1/4" hardware, with optional washer recesses

🧰 Installation Steps:

  1. Align the printed transom plate to the kayak’s rear insert holes.
  2. Mark and drill any additional holes on your metal transom bracket to match the printed plate.
  3. Use stainless M6 bolts and wide washers to secure the bracket through the plate and into the kayak.
  4. Add a bead of marine sealant between the plate and hull to prevent water intrusion.
  5. Torque the bolts hand-tight. No need to overtighten — ASA has great compression resistance.

🔩 Designed for:

  • Newport NV Series 55lb thrust motor
  • Standard stern-mount (non-bow mount) motor brackets
  • Compatibility with 3D-printed or aftermarket rudder kits

This system was designed to align perfectly with the custom throttle and steering assemblies under the CopOnPC build project.
