Description

Model

This model may appear to be a simple pump air plane/rocket launcher but it also has a hidden water spray feature making it great for pranking your friends.

The selector knob can be set to "-" and "+". When set to "-" the air stream is directed to propel the plane. When set to "+" the air stream is re-directed internally to a channel that can store a small quantity of water which will be sprayed from the radar at the top.

The radar can be rotated for targeting purposes and is removed to fill the hidden channel with water.

The model comes with two plane designs.

The concept behind the toy is simple. Issue a challenge to your friends with the objective of sending the plane the furthest. Start with the selector at the "-" position. Then tell your friends you will increase the power. Set the selector knob to "+" and let your friends go first. Watch their surprise as their excitement gets turned into a watery surprise!

Important: If the hidden channel is overfilled then the suction effect will drain the water from the hidden channel and the spray feature will not work as all the water will have drained out. When filling measure the amount of water to make sure you are not overfilling. I use the airplane body as a measuring cup and found that about 3/4 of the cavity is sufficient to fill the hidden channel without overfilling. I recommend some trial and error. Also, be mindful of the angle of the base when filling it as that will affect it too.

3D Printing

I have included a print profile.

You will need to use a brim for the spring, radar and the airplanes. The spring will require 10-15mm of outer brim otherwise there is a risk it will detach while printing.

Supports are required for the main base and the selector knob. I have painted supports where needed.
