Description

This is a cool replica of the Doomsday device that can be found in the open world underwater survival game Subnautica. I had the idea to make my own version of it that looks very accurate to the in game version besides some color differentiation or a tech pattern on the external shell.

An important note Is that I printed the colored external shell using the new H2D printer to save time and material, but all of my testeing and the glow core was printed using the X1 carbon. Based off my testing and the print settings I have modified this model should be good for most printers however, if you are concerned about the print time or material usage I have included a non colored shell as well. There may also be variations between filaments so for the best result use basic or glow filament.

A big part of the external shells slide-ability is from the friction between the parts, so the more you slide the external shell off the core the looser the parts will get and may eventually fall out easily. The core cutouts and the shell inserts are all mirrored, but due to printer variations no two parts will have the same friction so some parts may slide easily while others require more force.

I originally got the idea when I heard of the new H2D printer with 2 nozzles which is something I have wanted for a long time and it creates so many opportunities for new prints and ideas without the limitation of wasted filament or extreme print times.
