Modular Filament Rack - Round

Simple modular design for a filament spool storage rack (with round connectors)

• Modular and Extendable - More shelves and/or more width
• Any size (within reason)
• Only about 122g of filament per medium shelf (maybe 10 spools per shelf)
• Support modules (58g) provide weight support to extend the shelf width
• Uses cheap (about $1 per foot) ¾ Inch dowel for shelf and support (and saves print time)
• Very little (3.5g) support needed. Removes in one second with long nose pliers
• Prints every easily in Bambu Studio with saved profile settings

3 Versions available:

• Spool Rack - Round  (122g per shelf) - Simple round connectors (this model)
• Spool Rack - Square (138g per shelf) - Simple square connectors
• Spool Rack - Wheels (183g per shelf) - 2" feet for optional caster wheels
• You can mix and match - e.g. “Wheels” on the bottom and “Round” for other shelves

Modules:

• Top End
  • 2 of these are needed for the top shelf
• Bottom End
  • 2 of these are needed for the bottom shelf
• Middle End (optional)
  • 2 of these are needed for each additional middle shelf 
• Top Support (optional)
  • To extend the width, one or more can be added to support the top shelf
• Middle Support (optional)
  • To extend the width, one or more can be added to support the middle shelves
• Bottom Support (optional)
  • To extend the width, one or more can be added to support the bottom shelf

Assembly:

• Use ¾ Inch (19mm) dowel
• I suggest about 2 - 3 foot dowel for the width if not using the “support” modules
• For longer shelf width, I suggest a “support” module every 2 - 3 feet
• A pair of single 4 - 6 foot dowel with 2 - 3 support modules would work great
• If you are joining dowels for extra width, I suggest using headless dowel screws or some wood glue (between the dowels)
• Use #6 wood screws (1" or 20-25mm) to secure the sides to the dowels
• 8 or 9 inches is good for the vertical dowels
