Iron Man is a superhero from Marvel Comics, first appearing in Tales of Suspense #39 (March 1963), created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby. His real name is Tony Stark, full name Anthony Edward 'Tony' Stark, born May 29, 1970. He is the CEO of Stark Industries. During a kidnapping, shrapnel pierced his chest, threatening his life. To save himself, with the help of the kidnapped physicist Ho Yinsen, Tony created the Arc Reactor, escaping the ordeal. Using the Arc Reactor as a power source, he secretly built a suit of armor (Mark 1) to break out, later co-founding the Avengers.
