Description

I couldn't find a freely available 3D model of a comfortable grip for the AYN Odin 2 Mini, so I designed my own.

Some prototyping stages before the final result

The grip provides comfort during long gaming sessions, fits securely on the device, and doesn’t fall off—even when turned upside down or dropped.

In the print files, I’ve included two grip versions:

  • The first one is Medium size: This version should fit most people, and I recommend starting with it. The design shifts the center of the palm slightly away from the device and adds some thickness for finger grip, without significantly increasing the overall size of the device. It is a MINI after all ^,^
  • The second version (Big size) is based on an earlier prototype.
It has more pronounced curves, which may provide extra comfort for users with larger hands.

If you like this grip, consider supporting me by hitting the “boost” button.
I plan to create more accessories for gamers and retro gaming enthusiasts.

Dude, This is an awesome model. I used a 3d printing service called JLCPCB and used their resin printing with added glossy paint service. I just received it today and the thing has real heft to it. I love it so much. I lent out my mini to a friend and will check it out tomorrow but I already feel the difference. I hate the feeling of 3d printed stuff so the glossy paint on top of the resin print make it feel like a very premium product. I will list the option i used for my particular print below.

First, I'd like to thank you for this amazing job you've done. What material do you recommend to print this?

Thanks 🙏 I prefer PLA Matte by bambulab because of "soft touch finish". it's not very durable, but i don't care 😊

I absolutely love this. love my Odin 2 mini but the hand cramps where just something else. this has solved that issue I had and made me love the device even more. small and ergonomic now.

sorry, what’s the difference between the round and flat caps? are the caps just the bottom parts that get gripped?

flat caps version provided cleaner results on inside, that helps achieve more precise console fit. no need to remove supports on curved surfaces. but looks little bit ugly 😅 round caps provide more smooth exterior, but you need to work on removing supports and cleaning inside surface. also more time to print and more plastic. so it’s up to you which option is better for you

Fits great, printed mine in eSun white PLA to match my Mini. Thank you so much for posting this model, has really helped with the ergonomics for longer play time.

Hey @vlbrsk do you think this could print well in FPLA or should I stick to the PLA Matte? Seems FPLA could be like a bumper to protect it in a drop and wouldn't break easily.

i :) I never tested FPLA before, but in my experience with PLA, I think it will be an overkill solution. Regular PLA is already strong enough. Also note that it's not any kind of protective accessory, the most fragile and expensive part - the screen, still not protected, so investing in more expensive filaments for this kind of grip doesn't make any sense

I seem to be having a scaling issue with the download and STL files
