Description

The entire set fits in the cardboard inset tray that comes with the game, and all the pieces are pulled out of the tray and used for convenience during play. I imported the main insert design into .3mf and arranged the items on plates by color.

(This main model is a color-coded remix of several models: the Power Grid Board Game Inlay created by LouisWouters on Thingiverse and Power Grid game insert and power plant market by indianin666, with trays added from the Game Bit Tray with Lid by PandaruExpress.)

I prefer poker chip money to paper money, and if you would like to use them too, I’ve listed them as a separate model entitled Elektro Poker Chips for Power Grid Board Game. These fit into  the Poker Dealer Chip Rack - Customizable, and I’ve listed the dimensions I used for that rack below.

Detailed notes on remix and printing:

  • About the player token trays:
    • Instead of the original player trays in the ported models, I supplemented the insert with color-coded Game Bit Tray with Lids by PandaruExpress because I like their lid design. (I’ve left those out of this design because they use different global parameters to be filament-efficient. I recommend printing them from the original model linked.)
    • I also printed an extra bit tray in red and white for the no entry tokens (for unused regions). More on those below.
  • Some plates require support:
    • The mine cart needs supports, which are tricky to get off—but doable! You want to be careful around the axle and wheels so they don’t pop off.
    • The trash pail handle needs support too, but these come off pretty easily.
  • About the no entry tokens:
    • The blockade markers are for closing off regions during less than 6-player play.
    • The no entry tokens were created to allow you to add an M8 washer during printing. See the designer’s explanation.
    • I’ve added a pause for you to insert the washers with ease during printing.
  • More about the poker chips, if you would like to replace the paper money:
    • The poker tray was customized from the Poker Dealer Chip Rack - Customizable with these settings: 4 rows, 26 chips per row, 2.8 chip thickness, 39 chip diameter, 4 border, and 0.00 step per mm. (I could not add it here because it has a standard license.) If you wanted to push your luck and go for 28 chips per row, you could probably fit it in the box and tuck a few extra chips in there. I may have been conservative.
    • If you want to use the paper money as included in the game, I’ve left the paper money tray in the model.
    • The chips themselves can be found at this model, Elektro Poker Chips for Power Grid Board Game, and they are based upon the model Poker Chip - Easy Two Piece by FJ2002.
  • About the market frame:
    • The market frame can lay flat on the table, keeping the power plant cards neatly arranged, or it has a stand pole if you prefer it vertical.
    • It prints in place, and then you remove the small support at the bottom so the stand can swing out. (It's a very nice design by indianin66.)
