Print Profile(2)

Description
T-45LX Light eXtra: Simplified Jet Trainer (Updated V2 - 8 MAR 26)

Summary
The T-45LX Light eXtra is a streamlined, 3D-printable interpretation of the T-45 Goshawk. This version is not intended to be a perfect scale replica, but rather a clean, modern interpretation suited for educational purposes, motion illustration, or static display. This model prints quickly, assembles easily, and makes a great addition to your desk, shelf, or classroom. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast, a student, or an educator, the T-45LX helps visualize aircraft orientation and flight motion in a durable, tactile format.
What’s New in V2 (Community Feedback Update)
Based on user feedback, I have fixed the T-45LX with some quality of life improvements:
- Modular Canopy: The cockpit is now a separate part, allowing you to print it in a different color (like Blue or Black) without needing an AMS.
- Enhanced Detail: Added recessed control surface outlines and underwing hinges/fairings for a more technical, professional look.
- Dual Printing Options:
- Single-Piece
- Two-Piece Split (Optimal for those who want to minimize supports)
Background Information
The T-45 Goshawk is a tandem-seat jet trainer used for carrier-capable pilot training. The T-45LX (Light eXtra) variant focuses on the core geometry of the aircraft, stripping away fragile antennas and complex landing gear in favor of a robust, "display-first" design that handles being picked up and passed around in a learning environment.
Technical Notes
- Finishing: If printing the wings flat on the plate, I recommend smoothing the support interface at the trailing edge using a deburring tool or fine sandpaper.
- Assembly: A small amount of CA glue (Super Glue) may be used for permanent assembly of the two-piece version and the cockpit.
- Customization: A .STEP file is provided—you are free to scale or modify the model as needed for your specific project or display.
- Note: This model is purely decorative. It is not scaled for RC use and includes no internal structure or movable parts.
