Whats new in Latest Release

v1.2

  • NEW: Option in customizer to remove pouch flap to make it more like a ‘pocket’ style pouch.
  • Update: Optimization and code clean-up

Features

  • Five different Utility Tools to Choose from: Bottle/Cup Holders, Flat Hooks, Eye Hooks, Pouches and Flashlight Holders

  • Choose as little as 1 or up to 5 tools on one utility belt. If that is enough, make more utility belts!

How to Print - Steps to Making your Own Custom Belt

  1. Hit the customizable button above to get started. Select how wide of a belt you want to support
  2. Choose how many tools you want on this belt.
  3. Set up the tool of your choice for each of the slots up to the number of slots you selected in step 2.
  4. Change the options for tools that support it (cup/bottle holder, pouch and flashlight holder tools)
  5. Hit generate button and download
  6. Print! See Tips and Tricks section below to decrease chance of failure and disappointments!

Tips and Tricks

  • TPU is pretty much a necessity given the flexibility needed. Who wants a belt piece that sticks out like… a stick!
  • Building a belt with five tools is highly unlikely to fit on most build plates (unless using smaller tools). Print multiple smaller utility belts
  • The provided 3mf file above has been tuned to minimize supports time needed. Download and load in your generated print
  • You can print with out supports however you will get stringing that needs to be removed.
  • It is highly recommended to include supports for the cup holder and flat holder tools. Use organic tree supports
  • You can print smaller segments in other more rigid materials as they will not need to be as flexible on your belt.
  • Show off your prints in the comments section
  • Warning! It may same obvious, but this belt cannot support weight/load such as in climbing. This designer is not liable for misuse of this design.

How this design was made

This design was developed in pure code in OpenSCAD. Using different geomtric shapes in full parametric form, the program is designed to provide flexibility for the different tools and shapes. Feel free to modify the parameters if you are feeling adventurous but there are a lot intertwined sections and the program could easily degrade with minor tweaks.
