Description

Wanted to add a custom cap on the Simagic GT Neo Wheel 7-way switch which allowed for better rotation of the knob while wearing gloves.

Print at 0.15mm layer height or better. The cap press fits over the existing cap and no adhesive was needed. Printer needs to be well calibrated to accomplish this fit.

Update: Created a V2 version where the interior of the cap is coned to better match the Simagic 7-way Hat (Image showing the interior orange highlight shows V2 modification).

Fit really well. Was initially thinking they don't fit but you do have to give them a good push. IIRC I printed at 0.08mm just to make sure the quality was nice and tight. Printed in PLA. Offers better feel and control.

Edit: I was able to figure out that the part was too large in the X + Y scale by only .10 to .20mm too much, and printing again at 14.60 and 14.70mm solved this problem. In order to remove this cap if it did end up being too tight and you were not able to remove it even with pliers, you can leave both parts connected together in the freezer for 10-15 minutes and then you should be able to remove the cap from the original funky switch hat with relative ease (with no risk of damaging the orignal part). Take not on both items for future users, that you may need to resize the X + Y axis down a touch in your slicer app, if the fitment is too large (or up a bit if too tight).

FYI, neither the original "V1" part or the newer "V2" part fit properly on both of my GT Neo's 7-way funky switch hats for me. I printed on a Elegoo Centauri Carbon, at 0.08mm layer height and at 0.15mm layer height, using Elegoo PLA+ filament; and my printer is calibrated (and doesn't have problems with other models for fitment). I tried with the .3mf file and the .stl file. If I install the cap it just rotates freely, and it feels loose, for each that I printed. I don't have one of the newer revision GT Neo's, that do have a different funky switch on them as compared to the original revision GT Neo's. I wonder if this only works for the newer revision GT Neo's (that have a different shifter paddle back pattern and a different funky switch hat part). Note: I tried pressing hard on the cap to get it to fit on the hat, with no luck; I don't think the model was made for the funky switch hat on my GT Neo (bought new late 2024). The X + Y scale may be too big at 14.80mm; I will test that.
