Description

This is a reusable 3D printed aerial rooting pod (also known as a "margotta" in horticulture), designed to help you propagate plants directly on the branch. It’s ideal for gardeners who want to clone their favorite trees, shrubs, or indoor plants without cutting them first.

The design features:

  • Snap-fit locking system for easy attachment.
  • Two shell sizes to adapt to different branch diameters.
  • Drainage holes to prevent root rot.
  • Optional holes for zip ties if extra support is needed.

🌱 Print Settings:

  • Material: PLA or PETG
  • Layer Height: 0.2 mm
  • Infill: 15–20%

Assembly is simple: just fill the pod with moist soil, close it around a stem, and wait a few weeks for roots to develop. Once rooted, you can cut and plant it.

Feel free to remix or improve the design. I'd love to see your results! Here the FreeCAD original file https://github.com/wdalmut/margotta-3d/
