Description
Did you know you can use Bambu filament refills with empty Sunlu spools
Update:
New Model (V3) 13/04/2026:
Works with spool numbers 40/41/42/43/44/45/52/53/54/55
To be tested with models 60/61/62/71/72 (not tested, therefore not guaranteed)
Old Model:
Works with spool numbers 40/41/42/43/44/45
Incompatible with spool numbers 53/54 and 71/72
After trying several existing models without success, I decided to create my own design with the following criteria:
- Perfect fit
- No glue
- Fast printing
This model features clips that lock once the refill is in place
Only 20g of filament, less than 1 hour for one piece, and only 1 hour 30 minutes for two
Assembly instructions:
- 1. Open the spool by rotating counter-clockwise:
- 2. Locate the spool hole and align the holed tab of the printed model
- 3. Clip the model into place
- 4. Insert the filament and aim for the pin like with a Bambu spool
- Align the filament with the adapter
- 5. Replace the cover by aligning the square holes
- 6. Rotate the spool to lock everything in place
Perfect fit!
IMPORTANT: Please try with an empty cardboard spool before inserting the “refill spool”; this will allow you to check that everything is okay without risks.
