Description
Dust Extraction Quick Connect System.
I have created several magnetic quick connect dust extraction adaptors primarily for my woodworking workshop. They are for connecting a cyclonic filter to several tools using 30mm and 50mm hoses. There are adaptors to go on the inside (Male) or outside (Female) of both size hoses. I use a combination of these in the extraction system to make sure that there no sharp edges and there is as little restriction to air flow and dust as possible (I have had problems in the past where saw dust would build up at sharp edges). I primarily use the female connector at the filter and the male end connects to whichever tool I am using at the time.
There is also a 3D printed flat O-Ring for both the 30mm and 50mm hoses. Mine is just PLA and the seal is great, but it could potentially be printed in TPU. I have the O-rings permanently attached to hoses that go between the filter and tool.
For the magnets I used N52 10x3mm. I used 2x magnets in each hole for a stronger hold (12x magnets for each connector). When I install the magnets I alternate the polarity for each hole on each individual connector so that any connector can go to any other connector of the same size.

Below is a list of the adaptors I have created so far.
Cyclonic filter – 50mm Mag
50mm Mag Female – 50mm Hose
50mm Hose Male – 50mm Hose
DeWalt Planner (DW733) – 50mm Mag
50mm Mag – 30mm Mag adaptor
30mm Mag Female – 30mm Hose
30mm Hose Male – 30mm Hose
DeWalt Sander (DWE6423) – 30mm Mag
Bracket for holding 50mm Female
I have included the fusion file for the magnetic profile. It is fully defined, and it can be changed easily to suit any diameter by adjusting the “HoseInternalDia” parameter. I haven’t printed one yet but I know it will scale to 100mm without any problems.
I am still working on some more adaptors for my other tools, mainly track saw and Mitre saw but hopefully this is enough to get started. As I make new adaptors I will add to the profile I have tested it all fairly well so far but if you notice any issues then let me know. I would also be interested to see any creations from the fusion file template.
