Description

Want to pretend to be Luke Skywalker or Han Solo, and not Chewbacca, after the Battle of Yavin?  Then this is the model for you.

This is a model of the Medal of Bravery given to Luke and Han after the Battle of Yavin for destroying the Death Star.

It is a remix from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3639653 where I have scaled it to be closer to the size of the movie prop and I created a cap to better help secure straps in the medal.

I used some polypropylene straps for this. As they are made of plastic too, I used glue inside the space at the top of the medal and the cap to secure the strap.  It's good enough for cosplay wearing, but don't expect it to hold up well to pulling on it over and over.

I printed mine in Gold silk PLA at 0.16 layer height and slowed down the outer walls.  I printed it standing up as well, as it is in my print profile to get the best surface.  I used the brim in my profile and a clean build plate and it printed fine the first time with no failures. Don't blame the model for your bed adhesion or filament over extrusion. This printed fine with my provided profile.

You can print it flat if you can't figure out your adhesion, but the top surface will not be good, but perhaps that is good enough for you.
