Turtle Pond Box Style Filter

This is a custom 3D-printed turtle pond filter that will be safe for your turtle and clean your pond water. The setup is a main body, two internal side panels, and a sliding lid with simple access to the filter media (not included). All pieces were printed in ABS for outdoor use strength and durability.

I used an ABS slurry (a mixture of acetone and ABS filament) to bond the internal panels inside the main body and to fix warping on the main body. The entire assembly was covered in clear polyurethane spray once assembled to seal the surface and give a safer surface for aquatic life. To avoid warping you could print in PETG however I did not have that and I don't have any experience with that material. Your mileage may vary. 

The lid also features a cable slit, although in my initial design this was too small. I have corrected this within the included.3mf by adding a negative modifier to open the gap up so cables can be more easily routed through.

For the water release tube, I chose to drill the hole by hand after it was printed. While you can modify the design to include this, ABS is a finicky material to print cleanly with, and making it more complex would have increased the likelihood of print failure. Drilling afterwards gave me more control and a cleaner finish.

This is a great, do-it-yourself-friendly filter housing that holds both mechanical and biological filtration for small turtle ponds or aquatic aquariums.
