Description

This is a protective case that embraces your iPhone 16e. I have only printed it with TPU; please keep reading to understand.

After trying several phone cases that were either bulky, left the side buttons exposed, or made them difficult to press, I decided to design my own solution.

After some 10+ tries, I got to what I've uploaded here.

Main features of this cover:

  • Protects the phone all around, covering the sides 100%
  • Subtle beveled buttons on both sides: maybe they could be 1mm higher up for visual alignment
  • Tiny top curvature (like, REALLY tiny. Maybe increase this for a possible v2) to secure the phone inside the case
  • Rounded cuts for speakers and USB-C
  • Rounded edges (fillet) all around for a smooth feel when holding it
  • Perfect stock USB-C plug fit. Cables with bulkier plugs might not fit.

About Filament:

Given the (outer) bevelled button design, hard filaments might not be flexible enough to press the buttons, particularly for the closely spaced Volume UP and DOWN buttons. Hard filaments could add constant pressure on all buttons. While I haven't tested this case with PLA/PETG yet, that's my next step. If you do, please let me know how it goes!
I used TPU 95a for all my tests.

About Supports:

Supports are needed for all holes at the bottom and the inner corners where the top folds inward over the top edge (screen) to secure the phone. These supports are easy to remove after printing, but detaching the model from the print bed might require some good ol' force, especially if nothing is used to prevent TPU from sticking too hard to it.

Goal of this model:
I just wanted something simple that covered my phone as much as possible, without leaving exposed parts/corners/edges. Plus, I wanted bevelled buttons on the sides to avoid gunk getting into the phone's physical buttons.

Thanks

This is my first attempt at contributing to the community with a model upload! I'd be really grateful if you decide to print it and share your thoughts. Any feedback is welcome, even if you bash it. Knowing what works (or doesn't!) will help me learn and do better next time.
