Hello everyone,

here is another version of my spiral tower, this time not intended to bridge heights but as a pure pathway extension.

The entrance and exit are at the same height, and the spiral consists of two offset spirals. When assembled correctly, ants must ascend one spiral and then descend the offset spiral from the top to travel from one side to the other. This variant is designed for species that do not transport large prey; for species like leafcutters, I recommend my other model:

You will need 50mm acrylic tubing to assemble the tower:

https://www.acrylic-store.de/acrylglas-rohr-xt-flc-50mm-wl.html

The entrance and exit are designed for a 20mm pipe/hose.

The spirals are always 10cm long and can be connected arbitrarily, so there are no limits to the height :)

You need to print all parts (bottom cap, top cap, at least 1 x 10cm spiral, one end cap spiral, one base)

When assembling the parts, ensure, as shown in the following images, that no gaps are created; otherwise, ants can use them to reach the other side without traversing the spiral.

You can also glue the spirals together, but it holds well when everything is aligned and assembled.

Now have fun printing; if you have any questions, just contact me.

I would be delighted to see pictures of your printed copies.

PS: I have added another print profile with slightly narrower spirals, as some 50mm tubes apparently have different inner dimensions.
